SAFE AND SECURE RX DRUG DISPOSAL

Across Tuolumne County there is dynamic engagement to prevent prescription drug misuse and abuse. There is active collaboration between the YES Parternship, Public Health, The Opioid Coalition, Sheriff’s Office, and more, to address the current issues of opioids in Tuolumne County.

One of the easiest ways for Tuolumne County residence to get involved in combating this crisis is through the disposal of unused medications. For those aged 12 or older who misued prescription pain relievers in 2016, 53% of them obtained the drug by either being given then, bought, or taken from a friend or realitve.
